Philippines considers extending safeguard measures with cement from Vietnam

In order to best protect legitimate rights and interests, the Misnistry of Industry and Trade recommends that relevant businesses actively study the announcement of the Tariff Commission; and actively monitor and update case information.

In addition, enterprises must regularly contact and coordinate closely with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to receive timely support, especially in case of unusual problems.

Previously, after the investigation process, the Philippine Department of Trade and Intrusty (DTI) conclucded that the sudden increase in cement imports was the cause of serious damage to the domestic industry during the investigation period.

In order to protect the domestic industry as well as promote the domestic industry to continue to develop, in early 2019, the Department of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines decided to apply a temporary safeguard measure of 8.40Php/bag. 40kg, equivalent to about 4 USD/ton for Vietnamese cement exported to this market.
